Did Jesus Christ Pre-Exist as Michael the Archangel?

I would like to start today's post by asking that you take the time to study scripture with an open mind. Rely on Jehovah God to guide you. In the end, whether or not you accept the scriptures provided is not what is most important. Most importantly, keep love in your heart and respect your fellow brother and sister, no matter who they are, or what they believe. Have faith that God will get everyone the knowledge they need.

Faith in Jehovah, is FAITH in His timing.

I've had to unlearn many false teachings from the Jehovah's Witnesses, but that does not mean they got it all wrong.

Matthew 15:13, 14 (ASV)
But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up.
Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit.

Proverbs 8 (NWT) is not a good chapter to use when explaining the connection between Michael and Jesus Christ. JW organization has omitted the personification of the woman, no other Bible has done that. But thanks to Jehovah's guidance, I can now show you other scriptures that still clearly show a connection between Michael the Archangel and Jesus Christ.

Why is it important to show the pre-existence of Jesus Christ?

The following scriptures show many connections between the Archangel Michael and Jesus Christ. For those whom believe in the trinity, this will help you to see that Jesus Christ is not Jehovah and that the trinity (triune God) does not exist. Blog post on this subject is currently in the works.

The Mediator
Jesus was born as a human, later he was anointed with holy spirit (born again) at his baptism and became God's only-begotten God/Son. In his pre-existence as Michael, he was a chief prince, whom was the mediator between mankind and Jehovah. He represented Jehovah in the Old Testament, before he became the Son of man ~ Jesus Christ, who was a perfect representation and mediator of Jehovah. To see Jesus Christ is to see God, because no man can actually see God and live. Exodus 33:20 and John 1:18.

Who holds the keys?

Was Jesus an Angel?

Angel: Strong’s H4397 ~ Messenger, Representative

"Have this mind in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped,  but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men;  and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross."

Note: "being made in the likeness of men" meaning he was no longer an angel, he was born as a human ~ a baby boy named Jesus. Let the scripture, not "man's" explanation of it, speak for itself. Ephesians 5:6 ~ Let no man deceive you.

Hebrews 1:1-5 Through the Son, God created the world. The Son radiates God's glory and expresses the character...God's representation. Jesus inherited a name greater than the angels and through the Son he created the worlds.

How did he become greater than the angels, was it when he was exalted to God's right hand?

"Wherefore also God highly exalted him, and gave unto him the name which is above every name."

Now let's look further into the following verse...

Thou "HAST" loved righteousness, and "HATED" iniquity; "THEREFORE" God, thy God, "HATH" anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Here, Jehovah goes on to say that Jesus showed he "had" loved righteousness and "hated" iniquity (past tense), this happens before he is anointed by God..."therefore" God anoints him.

The next question should be... When did Jesus show he loved righteousness and hated iniquity before being baptized and anointed with holy spirit?

Note: The Bible does not give much detail about Jesus's life before his ministry, other than his birth and when he was of the age of 12. (Luke 1:35; 2:7, 41-52)

So now let's go to scripture to see where it shows he loved righteousness and hated iniquity...

Who is the Prince of peace in the OT?

Isaiah 9:6 ~ "His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

Old Testament...

Who played the role of God and was the mediator before man and God?

Exodus 23:20-21 ASV — Behold, I send an angel before thee, to keep thee by the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. Take ye heed before him, and hearken unto his voice; provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgression: for my name is in him.

Matthew 1:23 ASV — Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel; which is, being interpreted, God with us.

John 10:25 ASV — Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness of me.

In my name

Jesus Christ ~ Strong’s G2424 “Jehovah is Salvation” and Strong’s G5547 “Anointed” (shines, pure) Michael ~ Strong’s 4317 “Who is like God

The prince, representing Jehovah is before Joshua, Joshua calls him Lord, bows down and worships him. (Same as Jesus) Jehovah is Salvation

Joshua 5:13-15 ASV — And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as prince of the host of Jehovah am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? And the prince of Jehovah’s host said unto Joshua, Put off thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Compared to

Matthew 2:11 ASV — And they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary his mother; and they fell down and worshipped him; and opening their treasures they offered unto him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

Jesus was yet an infant, yet he was being worshipped because they understood “He was like God” he represented Jehovah.

What is before Joshua?
The angel standing next to Satan, that just forgave sin.

Zechariah 3:4-9 Angel forgiving sin. (Representing Jesus Christ whom also forgave sin.) The angel request *Jehovah to rebuke Satan while they are standing in front of Joshua, what does Jehovah say to him "The stone with seven eyes I have set before Joshua."

Revelation 5:6 ASV — And I saw in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.

Who became the chief cornerstone?

Zechariah 4:14 These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

Daniel 10:13, 20, 21 ~ Michael, one of the chief princes. (Who is like God)

Daniel 10:2 - Daniel gets no message for 21 days.

"Vision" of Michael the Archangel.

Daniel 10:5-7 ASV — I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with pure gold of Uphaz: his body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as flaming torches, and his arms and his feet like unto burnished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, and they fled to hide themselves.

Son of man ~ Jesus Christ

Revelation 1:13-19 ASV — and in the midst of the candlesticks one like unto a son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about at the breasts with a golden girdle. And his head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; and his feet like unto burnished brass, as if it had been refined in a furnace; and his voice as the voice of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as one dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying, Fear not; I am the first and the last, and the Living one; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. Write therefore the things which thou sawest, and the things which are, and the things which shall come to pass hereafter;

verses 10 - 13 - After being held for 21 days and receiving help from Michael, the messenger (un-named angel) speaks to Daniel.

Daniel 10:10-12 ASV — And, behold, a hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands. And he said unto me, O Daniel, thou man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright; for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling. Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel; for from the first day that thou didst set thy heart to understand, and to humble thyself before thy God, thy words were heard: and I am come for thy words’ sake.

Daniel 10:13 ASV — But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me: and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

verse 14 - 21 - the messenger (un-named angel) speaks to Daniel.

Daniel 10:14 ASV — Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days; for the vision is yet for many days.

Daniel 10:21 ASV — But I will tell thee that which is inscribed in the writing of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me against these, but Michael your prince.

John 14:6 ASV — Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Michael is the mediator "Angel of the Lord" (OT) and he is the mediator Jesus Christ on earth. (NT)

1 Timothy 2:5 ASV — For there is one God, one mediator also between God and men, himself man, Christ Jesus.

Hebrews 8:6 ASV — But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which hath been enacted upon better promises.

The Eternal Father of the new covenant...

Hebrews 9:15 ASV — And for this cause he is the mediator of a new covenant, that a death having taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they that have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Daniel 12:1 ~ Michael will stand before the great time of trouble.

Psalm 82:8 ASVArise, O God, judge the earth; For thou shalt inherit all the nations.

Matthew 25:31 ASV — But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:

When Michael becomes King, he resumes his role as Jesus Christ.

New Testament...

Matthew 24:4, 15, 21, 22 ~ When Jesus arrives during the great time of trouble.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 ~ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and "the dead" in Christ shall rise first;

Jude 9 ~ But Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing judgment, but said, *The Lord rebuke thee

Jesus Christ is given authority to judge, when he becomes King during the thousand year reign. In Jude, Michael is in heaven and had not yet taken on the role of Jesus Christ, as he had here on earth.

Revelation 12:7 ~ Michael (before he becomes King) fights with Satan.

Who holds the keys to the Hades/Abyss?
Is it not Jesus/Michael before he becomes King?

Revelation 1:18 (Jesus) 9:1; 20:1-3 (Michael) Hades and Abyss have the same meaning.

I'm working on my next blog post, in this post I will share how hades and abyss refer to the same thing...*please stay tuned.

*New post: 06/08/21
Hades and Abyss ~ Is There a Difference?

The key to Death is at the end, just before Jesus hands everything back to his Father. (Revelation 20:14)

What's greater than the angels?

Is not, John 1:1-4 referring to Jesus Christ role, being the light to the New Heaven and New Earth?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (God's representative.)
The same was in the beginning with God. (Refer to Hebrews 1:1-5)
All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

1 Corinthians 15:45 ASV — So also it is written, The first man Adam became a living soul. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Was Jesus indeed a Man on earth, that became the begotten Son/God when he was anointed?

"The Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased."

John 1:18 Biblehub
  • only begotten Son
  • Only Begotten God
begotten ~ brought into existence by or as if by a parent (not part of a trinity)

And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize in water, he said unto me, Upon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and abiding upon him, the same is he that baptizeth in the Holy Spirit.

I plan to make a blog post on the following soon...

It's important to note: Being baptized by Holy Spirit (born again) and baptized in water, are not "one and the same."

This can easily be confirmed in all translations...I used NWT to link all scriptures on the same page. For a complete story, read in full Acts ~ chapters 2, 8, 9 and 10 (ASV)
  • Baptized in water, later received holy spirit.
  • Baptized and received holy spirit the same day.
  • Received holy spirit FIRST before being baptized in water. ~ Acts 9 - Apostle Paul, and Acts 10 - Cornelius. I've not seen scripture of Apostle Paul getting a water baptism. Please feel free to share it, if you have one.

In the end, what really matters is that you believe Jesus Christ, that Jehovah sent him as a ransom sacrifice for our sins. That You trust in Jehovah and the promises He made. (Romans 10:8-13
(ASV) ~ verse 13 for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

To call on Lord Jesus Christ, is to call on the Lord Jehovah, your God..."My name is in him."(Exodus 23:21)
